Who are we?

Mainstream Netservice is a Dutch company that creates and maintains websites and specializes in interactive 3D environments: www.mainstream.nl

Why this site?

The virtual reconstruction of the Haus der Deutschen Kunst is meant as a 3D showcase for both historical reconstructions and virtual exhibition spaces.

- In this case an existing building is recreated in a historical setting.
- Another possibility is the reconstruction of buildings that are no longer existant, such as the Paleis voor Volksvlijt (Amsterdam Crystal Palace) that was destroyed by fire in 1929. See: www.paleisvoorvolksvlijt.nl/3d
- Furthermore it is possible to create fictional exhibition spaces. An example is the museum for Surinamese art: www.isaak.nl/sk/

What software was used?

To create the 3D model different tools were used such as Blender www.blender.org for modelling and GIMP www.gimp.org for creating textures. The interactive environment is powered by the Unity unity3d.com 3D engine.
